PERSONAL SAFETY SEMINARS – FREE

Brisbane City Council has a strong commitment to the safety of all residents and workers of Brisbane, male and female.
To this end, the Personal Safety Project was put in place. This is a project offering gender specific FREE seminars and workshops in Personal Safety, Self Defence and Empowerment.
All sessions are designed and delivered by SDVMA, with the basic premise of equipping men and women with the skills needed to enhance their quality of life through fear reduction, manage aggressive or threatening behaviour, and reduce their risk of personal attack when in public spaces.
Sessions cover:
- Myths & facts relating to violence
- Confidence / self image
- Communication / body language
- Assertiveness / dealing with confrontation
- Fear management
- Environmental awareness
- Threat assessment
- Safety in the home
- Road rage
- Bag snatching
- Safety on public transport
- Self defence skills
- Options to physical self defence
- Legal issues
- Question & answer time (giving you the opportunity to raise any personal safety issues)
